i want to be where the Spirit is moving

Please excuse our reconstruction.  This site will undergo numerous changes in the next week or two.

The Spirit of God has made clear to us on many occasions that we have been Sovereignly called out by His design, for His glory (John 15:16). For most of us now, business as usual at church is no longer acceptable. Our first love and the focus of every area of our lives is Jesus. He is the One who has purchased us for Himself – not with gold or silver but with His own precious blood. He is the Author of life and Perfector of our faith. We understand the expectation of His Gospel – that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for us and rose again (II Corinthians 5:15). And living for Him is not a burden to us – because we love Him and His life in us set us free from the law of sin and death. We have one string on our guitar and it is Jesus.

Now because Jesus' home is in our heart He has changed everthing in our relationship with on another. By His grace, we are learning humility and gentleness towards others and what it means to prefer others even as our Lord demonstrated in His own life. He is the One who turned leadership upside down when He said, "I came not to be served but to serve." (Mark 10:42-45). We have been learning about forgiveness and the healing Jesus purchased by His blood. We are learning about authority and godly order, so that our striving is not against one another, but with one another for the expansion of God's Kingdom. We are learning about Holiness – which is first and foremost being wholehearted about the things of God. Our commitment to live wholeheartedly for God's glory is completely sincere; we have no other agenda. Each person must decide for themselves how they will live out their days, but as for myself and this church, we have chosen to serve the Lord and to worship Him alone. We also understand that apart from Him we can do nothing – and nothing in Greek or any other language is Nothing. Therefore, it is our purpose to pray about everything and to seek His counsel in every issue. The wisdom of man is foolishness to God (I Corinthians 3:19), and we want to be done with foolishness. Our god has promised that if we lack wisdom, he will give it abundantly to those who earnestly seek Him and desire to obey. God's will is always blessed and it is our intention to discover His will that we might continue to stand, in al things, under the covering of His blessing and work for His glory. We know it is His will to care for the poor, Proverbs 19:17 & Proverbs 28:27, and by His mercy this first year we have given over a third of all the money that has been given here to care for the poorest of the poor. We know that it is His will to train up our children in the way they should go and we have many who have given countless hours to our children's care and nurture in the faith. Many of these dear children have been diligently filling up their heart with the Word of God. We know that it is the continuing ministry of Jesus, through His Church, that releases the power of God to bring healing, physically, relationally, and spiritually. The scriptures remind us it is for freedom we have been called (Galatians 5:1) and Jesus said, "if anyone comes to Me, they will be free indeed" (John 8:36)! Almost 80 people have taken Freedom Prayer classes with another 30, right now, learning how to extend the healing Word and Blood of Jesus Christ to those in need. Jesus did not die for programs or rituals. He died so that we might live and so that we might be saved to the uttermost in every arena. Praise His glorious Name! As we experience more and more of the Freedom Jesus has called us to, His love will find a larger place to dwell in our hearts. Scripture reminds us that the only thing that matters is faith working itself out in love (Galatians 5:6), apart from that we have nothing to offer God that will be acceptable in His sight. As we are taught, in this life there are three great lasting qualities; faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love (I Corinthians 13:13). God will never give us a task that can be successfully completed without love, as the scriptures say, without love, we achieve precisely nothing. God has filled our ranks with mature, wise, loving Christ-followers who devote countless hours serving our Lord through ministry in this Body:

  • Leaders in finance, facilities and Worship music (second to none)
  • Those who care for our communal times together with food and drink
  • Bible Study leaders and classroom teachers
  • Intercessors who pray over every area of our life together
  • Elders who not only direct the affairs of the church (I Timothy 5:17) but they are Christ's undershepherds who love you
  • And now there are twp additional staff members to share leadership for our family ministry (Dave Davies and Dan Edmondson)

Friends, if somebody asked us how we know God wants us to establish a new faith community; I believe the answer is simple. Just look around and you will see fingerprints of God everywhere you turn! The Spirit of Jesus is in our midst! God has begun something here that only He could stop. This fellowship and our purpose for existing may not fit for everyone, but if you want to be where the Spirit is moving, I can't imagine a better place to be.  —Jerry Theckston
